Image
In the year 1964 Umueri as a community was poised on celebrating it Ada-Masquerade despite all speculation and rumour of impending crisis that it will cause. What is Ada? Ada is a masquerade, that comprise various sizes big, medium and small. It significant is to exercise spiritual authority over your domain and territories, our fathers in the dark age use it to match round their conquered territories. But that of 1964 did not go down well with our neigbour. It use to be a colorful event as the masquerades match the people will be singing and following the Ada masquerade both male no female, old and young. Since 1964 there was no such colourful event that attract large crowd as such till 2010 when Chinedu Edozino led Umueri National Youth Forum through it Think-tank introduce the Annual youth-day Rally that is a modern day Nti-Ada ! Since 2010 till date the event has thrive as subsequent administration has maintain the event and communities around us are now emulating the Umu

Tribute To Great Achiever

TRIBUTE TO GREAT AVHIVER, LATE IGWE NELSON OKOYE ( OKEBO 1 OF UMUERI) I write this tribute on my own volition. This. Is because the legacies of Late Igwe Nelson Ugume -na-Umudiana Okoye (Okebo 1 of Umueri), Traditional Ruler and Chief custodian of native laws and customs of Umueri Kingdom speak volumes even after his death. Igwe, your achievements in Umueri were so much that no other person has been able to reach such glorious heights. I make bold to say that your idea of health schemes were superlative, the very best even in the present 184 communities in Anambra State. You were the chairman of Amaoku Age Grade. Under your watch, a superb General Hospital was built and donated to Anambra State Government before  Nigeria-Biafra Civil War. It is on record, that your educational projections the best in our clime. Under your leadership, free and compulsory education was introduced. Again, oversea scholarship schemes were introduced. It is an established fact Late Barrister

Okebo Lives On

THE SPIRIT OF OKEBO IS IN THE AIR  _It is going to be a solemn service!_ We have heard the different concerns and fears being raised in certain quarters, about plans to install a new Igwe immediately after the last Ovala. These fears are not genuine because H.R.H Igwe Umueri Nelson Ugume na Umudiana Okoye (clan head Umueri n' Nando) when he was alive was a man of peace who exhausted his energy and resources to maintain the peace and defend territorial integrity of *Umueri Ovuakwu* We the Royal Family has resolved to once and for all lay to rest the spirit of our departed patriarch in a peaceful and solemn ceremony. We therefore with excitement invite you as an individual and the entire good people of Umueri to a solemn celebration of the life and times of our Ruler,Husband, father, uncle, brother and son. Again our resolve is to celebrate our patriarch and it does not matter the politics of nomenclature. To Igbo customs and tradition it is going to be his Last Ovala, to g
This is an inspiring story that has circulated widely on the internet for years. It is a story of transformation and determination to live. The wide appeal of this story speaks to the eagle's extraordinary power to captivate and inspire human beings. While this story is inspiring, and may offer us a way to reflect on our own life journey, the story is just that, a story. It is not accurate biologically. I have underlined what the storyteller usually says and then I have written below that a rebuttal to that statement. The eagle has the longest life-span among birds Eagles typically live between 20-30 years in the wild. As apex predators, they are relatively long-lived compared to many other birds. The oldest wild eagle on record is about 32 years of age. It can live up to 70 years. But to reach this age, the eagle must make a hard decision. In its 40’s its long and flexible talons can no longer grab prey which serves as food. Talons are hard, sharp and curved througho

Advent Of Anglican Church In Umueri

The Advent of Anglican Church In Umueri The advent of Christian missions to Umueri was the effort of the 18th century evangelical and revival movements which went through the length and breadth of Europe. The revival hnreached America and West coast of Africa through the activities of liberated slaves. Having embraced the Christian faith while in the Americas, those ex-slaves became the light bearers for the evangelization of the West coast and the interio. In Nigeria, it was the ex-slaves and returnees from Sierra Leone that pioneered the evangelization of the country especially the Igbo country, Umueri inclusive. The first Christian mission to make a successful inroad to Umueri was the Anglican Church which came under the auspices of the Church Missionary Society (CMS). This was an evangelical wing of the Anglican Church founded in 1799 and commissioned to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ‘heathem’ lands especially Asia and Africa. The Church Missionary Society (CM

Godly Heritage APRIL 17 ·FRIENDS Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical science artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations. Back in the late sixties, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young came out with a popular song called, “Teach Your Children Well.” It was addressed to the freewheeling hippie generation, which had tried to cast off all the restraints and rules of their parents’ generation. While the song reflected noble intentions, I always thought that there was a great deal of irony reflected in it, that this rebellious generation would somehow succeed in teaching their children where their parents had failed. I’m afraid that my generation succeeded in teaching our kids all too well. We taught them that lifelong commitment in marriage is outdated. We taught them to cast off the roles of husband as provider and wife as mother and homemaker
