Ancient Discovery Made in Egypt

Scientists discover the chemical materials and secrets applied to corpses in a 2700-year-old mummification workshop.

This new discovery was able to uncover a number of great and priceless information that showcases the materials used in the mummification process. A 2700-year-old (664 B.C.E.–525 B.C.E.) burial complex south of Cairo called Saqqara held a number of embaling vessels that contains a number of materials which when examined included traces of beeswax, animal fats, vegetable oils, and bitumen along with numerous plant resins which were mixed and heated to form ointments in order to protect the bodies against the passing of time and transform the bodies into beautiful statues. A lot of the materials were imported from parts of Africa, Europe, and Asia which only proves the mummification process was a key factor in an ancient form of globalization and the innovation of biochemistry.
