 If you think that the oldest university in the world is in Europe or China, think again: because it is not.


 The oldest university in the world is in Africa

 The oldest university in the world is in Morocco.  Known as Al-Qarawiyyin, it was found in 859 BC by a young princess of Tunisia, Fatima al-Fihri.


 The university is recognized by UNESCO and Guinness World Records as the oldest in existence, and is still operational, as well as the first to issue educational degrees.


 The university is located in the city of Fes, a historic center of educational and spiritual teachings in the Muslim world.


 History tells that about 1200 years ago, al-Fihri and her family moved from Qayrawan (now Tunisia) to Fes, Morocco.

 After his father's death, al-Fihri decides to spend the family inheritance on building a mosque for the community next to a madrasa, an Islamic school whose objective was to give people the opportunity to practice their faith and expand their knowledge in spiritual matters.


 The mosque, which has space for around 22,000 worshippers, is one of the largest in Africa.


 Over time, Al-Qarawiyyin has become one of the world's leading centers of education and spirituality.


 The madrasa was initially supposed to focus on religious instruction and memorization of the Koran but later expanded its teachings to calligraphy, Arabic grammar, Sufism (Islamic mysticism and asceticism), medicine, music and astronomy.


 In 1947, the school was registered in the state educational system and ten years later, courses in chemistry, physics and languages ​​were opened.

 In 1963, it joined a modern state education system, and in 1965 it was officially renamed “University of al-Qarawiyyin” instead of simply “al-Qarawiyyin”.

Unknown Youths From Nsugbe Attacks Umueri Project

INVASION BY NSUGBE YOUTHS SECOND TIME

 Within space of six months Nneyi Community in Umueri Anambra East LGA of Anambra state has been attack by it neighbor Nsugbe for undisclosed reasons. On 27th May 2023 during the mounting of a Gantry billboard by Umueri Progressive Forum, the engineer and his boys were attacked, their vehicles damaged some of the local guide that was stationed there were beaten to stupor and he recognized them to be from Nsugb e.  The President General of Nsugbe Town Union and his vigilante Chief denied knowledge of the dastardly act and said that the perpetrators  were not from Nsugbe, Nneyi people allowed this to be in the interest of peace.  The wanton destruction of lives and properties of Ndi Umueri by Nsugbe Youths this morning as many structure were destroyed many were maimed leaving them between life and death. Nneyi people are yet to understand what happened to them as they cannot explain what happened.
