Umueri 2019 Ovala and importance of Ijele masquerade

Image
The Igbo tribe in western africa with a region in eastern nigeria has arguably one of the best cultural heritage in Africa, and today, I bring you the mighty Masquerade. "Ijele" 1. Studies have shown that the Ijele masquerade has its roots from the Akunechenyi dance group from Umudiani in Umueri communitie in Anambra State. 2. Available resources also show that the original idea for the masquerade is to celebrate royalty and greatness in Igboland. 3. It is regarded as the biggest masquerade in sub-Saharan Africa. 4. It stands at between 12ft-15ft. 5. It was listed in the UNESCO Archives as an intangible cultural element in need of urgent safeguarding. 6. It is believed that in the olden days, 45 other masquerades performed on top of the Ijele (signifying its kingship above all other eastern masquerades). These masquerades are represented today by 45 figurines on top of the Ijele. 7. It takes about a hundred men to put the Ijele costume in order.

The State Of Developed/Bad Road Network In Aguleri And Umueri

Image
Aguleri a construction site while Umueri her neighbour is a dumping site! BACKGROUND: It is not news that Otuocha is historically occupied by Umueri and Aguleri as two predominant communities. It is also not news that Otuocha as it is known today, is the headquarters of Anambra East LGA, hence her political symbolism. It is important to also note going forward, that Anambra East being one of the 7 LGA that make up the Anambra North geopolitical zone became a beneficiary of the agitation for power shift to the zone. And by Providence, the mantle of leadership fell in the hands of someone from Aguleri, one of the Towns in Anambra East Local Government Area and Omambla region as a matter of heritage. Having highlighted the above without any ambiguity, it is therefore pertinent and very logical to state; that every community within these area should as a matter of fairy share be partakers of the dividends of good governance, which includes but not limited to

Love and what true love is all about

Love Love encompasses a variety of different emotional and mental states, typically strongly and positively experienced, ranging from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection and to the simplest pleasure.  Greek god:  Eros Greek goddess:  Aphrodite Roman god:  Cupid Roman godess:  Venus People also ask? Everyone seems to be hankering after romantic love, but few of us realize that far from being timeless and universal, romantic love is in fact a modern construct, one that emerged in tandem with the novel. In Madame Bovary (1856), itself a novel, Gustave Flaubert tells us that Emma Bovary only found out about romantic love through ‘the refuse of old lending libraries’. These books, he wrote: But there are many other ways to love, not all of which are consistent or consonant with romantic love. By preoccupying ourselves with romantic love, we risk neglecting other types of love that are more readily accessible and that m

Title Taking in Umueri

Image
TITLE TAKING IN UMUERI Title taking is an age long tradition in Umueri practiced in several parts of Igbo land. Each event is celebrated with much pomp and pageantry and is preceded by series of preparations that involves the whole town. It is a mark of distinction as it tends to distinguish the celebrant from the rest of his kindred and confers on him certain priviledges and rights. Title taking is one of the measures the Igbo Society has put in place as a mechanism to promote hard work, honesty, piety and uprightness in the various communities it is practiced. All intending title-takers are subjected to various forms of examinations and rites which must be completed before being conferred with a title. Because of the combination of factors that are involved in title taking, the holders are held in high esteem and revered by all and sundry. It not only enhances the social status of the beneficiary but acts as a form of social insurance for holders who have to fall on the
