Believing in the Almighty and having faith in God is one of the highest recognitions that we can give Him. But for the love of all things holy, we shouldn’t blindly test the Lord.  So yes, as believers we know that faith can move mountains but how far would you go to prove that the power of God is at work in your life? If you are hoping to part the red sea or walk into any nearby zoo and have a chit-chat with lions like biblical Daniel did then think twice about it. Because let me warn you God doesn’t have a lot of free time to pay attention to people who want to show off for unnecessary reasons. Don’t believe me?  Here are four instances that people perished or died while attempting to make a point about how powerful God is. Like I said earlier, anyone bent on proving God’s power should really take lessons from these guys and not try to die in vain.

The South African Pastor Who Surrendered In An Attempt To Break Jesus’ 40 Days And Night Fasting Record

Thus saith Christ in the Christain’s holy book (John 14:12): “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do…” Alfred Ndlovu, a South African pastor probably read this, believed it and decided to embark on a marathon dry fasting and pray for 40 days and nights not just like Jesus did but to surpass Him. This wasn’t only an unsuccessful mission for Alfred, but he lost his life in the process. Still, we have to give the late pastor some credit, because it is said that he survived for 30 days.

The Zimbabwean Pastor Who Was Eaten By Crocodiles After Trying  To Walk On Water Like Jesus Christ

In the early parts of 2012,  a Zimbabwean pastor, Jonathan Mthethwa, the spiritual guide of the Saint of the Last Days Church’s congregation was attacked and eaten by crocodiles after he made himself vulnerable to the creatures, trying to walk on water like Jesus did. Why test God in such a manner? Well, the Man of God gave a series of teachings on Faith, how it makes all things possible and move mountains among all other things. Then to wrap things up, he promised his congregation a practical demonstration of Faith – he would walk on water at the Crocodile River. Johnathan attempted this and here are we telling his tragic tale.

The Full Gospel Tabernacle In Jesus Name Church’s Snake Salvation Pentecostal Pastor Who Died From A Snake Bite

It is said that the pastor, Jamie Coots inherited the snake-handling ministry from his father who inherited it from his grandfather and was hoping to pass it on to his son. But due to a sad turn of events, he didn’t live long enough to do so. Before his death, the Snake Salvation Pastor discussed the essence of handling snakes as a form of worship to God. He told ABC News that God’s calling for him and his congregants was to toy with venomous snakes and to refuse treatment but wait upon the Lord when bitten for healing. As you might have guessed, the man died while trying to demonstrate an act of faith on the 15th day of February 2014. He was bitten on his right hand during service by one of the snakes. When paramedics arrived to help him, he rejected their help and equally dismissed pleas to visit a hospital. He was left alone and died a few hours later.

Prophet Abodunrin Who Wanted To Replicate The Daniels-In-The-Lion’s-Den Story In Ibadan Nigeria

Now, this story is quite a popular one in the West African country. It is said that proving God’s power for Pastor Abodunrin was all about showing that the God of Daniel in the Bible never changes and is still the powerful deliverer who would stop at nothing to rescue those who believe in Him from harm and danger. In a nutshell, Prophet Abodunrin grabbed his Bible and sneaked into where the lions are kept. Unfortunately, the hungry lions didn’t spare a moment, they quickly sent the dare-devil prophet home to be with God.
