APC ZONES GUBER TICKET TO ANAMBRA NORTH. SENATOR NGIGE CONVEYS DECISION TO ASPIRANTS FROM THE NORTH. SOUTHERN ASPIRANTS KICK.
The Leader of the All progressives congress in Anambra state and Minister of Labour and Employment Senator Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige yesterday unveiled the concensus project of the APC towards clinching the Anambra governorship seat during the November 18 election.
A confident Dr Ngige broke the news to the three aspirants from Anambra north; Hon Dr Tony Nwoye, Chief Chike Obidigbo and Chief Paul Chukwuma. He said the National working Committee of the APC has resolved to zone the slot to Anambra north.
He then urged the aspirants to convene at the Ogbunike home of a party stakeholder Engr Nelson Onubogu to discuss among themselves who will be projected to the party on 26th as a formidable opponent with a good track record and the capacity to unseat the incumbent governor Willie Obiano.
Aspirants from the South are already kicking against this anomaly and have sworn to challenge this "one man show". One aspirant querried: "Does Ngige think we are still ACN? The man should wake up from his slumber and face the reality that his political career is over".
With exactly five days to the Anambra APC primary, one is eager to fathom how this rather daring action of the leader will pan out. Senator Andy Ubah, Chief George Muoghalu, Chief Barth Nwibe and Chief Obinna Uzoh are very prominent aspirants from the south.
These men have been spending money on campaign activity and hoping for a free and fair election only for Senator Ngige to put a spanner in the works? What image does this singular action of the minister create of APC? Certainly not a party with internal democracy.
When contacted, the Anambra State Chairman of APC said he is not aware of such zoning by the NWC, insisting that the minister was on his own. "Our party is known for internal democracy and we cannot impose anybody on the delegates. There will be a free and fair election on saturday. That's the only way to choose a formidable candidate for Anambra APC".
